I originally bought The Macbeth back in 2004 with the plan to turn it into a live music venue, then transformed it from a run down dilapidated old boozer to what Time Out regularly described as one of the top five live music venues in London. 

Unfortunately just as the venue was at the height of it’s success I was seriously injured in an unprovoked violent attack. Unable to continue running the business & suffering with (at the time undiagnosed) P.T.S.D I then sold the pub and moved out of London to the countryside for a quiet life breeding Dobermans. Or so i thought...

As the story unfolds you will read that I end up incarcerated in HMP Brixton as an innocent man. It was whilst I was on remand awaiting trial that I re-kindled my love for writing. I attended a creative writing workshop within Brixton prison & even had some poetry published in a prison publication.  

I started to keep a diary, documenting the day to day events leading up to the trial which turned out to become quite high profile and at the time received quite a lot of media attention. 

As well as my prison diaries I began writing a memoir, excerpts of which I will publish in the 'Bands, Pubs and Thugs ' blog. I don’t necessarily write chronologically, as I read quite a lot of autobiographies & memoirs & I often find that the 'growing up' chapters are often quite unremarkable (I often skip forward a few chapters to the 'juicy bits'.) I may flashback & forwards in the blog at times but hopefully it will be legible and you will enjoy reading about my experiences.

As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community. I'd love to hear from anyone who frequented The Macbeth, or anybody who experienced the lively pub/band/music scene in and around Shoreditch & Hoxton, especially in the early 2000s which in my opinion were some of the most exciting times to be involved in the live music scene.
